Om drygt två månader flyttar vi in i vårt hus. Som vi längtar!

Det bästa – eller jobbigaste, beroende på hur man ser det – det är att vi inte har några möbler. Ingen soffa, inget matbord, ingen säng, inga stolar. Allt som vi inte sålde av hamnade uppe i sommarhuset när vi flyttade till USA. Att inreda det där huset helt från scratch är ungefär det roligaste jag kan tänka mig just nu (faktiskt så roligt att jag stundtals får svårt att tänka på annat överhuvudtaget).

Men att köpa möbler till ett hus baserat på de bilder som man har av det, det är faktiskt inte så lätt. Eftersom det är leveranstid på det mesta så måste vi ju också se till att fixa det viktigaste nu så att det är på plats när vi får tillträde.

Turen har nu kommit till matplatsstolarna.

Och efter att vi äntligen nästan nästan bestämt oss för smutsturkosa Eamesstolar så klickade jag idag upp det här inlägget på underbara inredningsbloggen Mokkasin. Det handlade om smutsturkost.

Man försöker ju så gott det går inbilla sig själv att man liksom bara väljer sånt man gillar, att man inte alls bryr sig så mycket om trender. Det som är trendigt blir otrendigt sen och jag har ingen lust att byta stolar vart tionde år bara för att de är ‘ute’ (inte för att vi skulle göra det, men om jag omedvetet uppfattat att den där smutsturkosa färgen minsann är vad man borde ha i höst, ja då finns ju faktiskt också risken att jag om några år kommer att känna att smutsturkost är såååå 2014, det förstår ju jag också, och då kommer jag kanske inte att vilja dras med de där stolarna).

För övrigt:

Ja, så nu blir jag tveksam. Jag vill ju inte vara så där omedvetet trendstyrd. Men jag vill ju verkligen inte vara så snobbig att jag väljer bort något för att det är trendigt och ‘alla andra’ därmed har det. Det är faktiskt värre.

Ja, och så känner jag mig lite äcklig för att jag ens tänker på sådana här saker. Att jag ens får känslan av att ‘alla’ har en viss sorts svindyra stolar är ju – även om jag förkastar den för hallå, hur världsfrånvänd får man lov att vara – faktiskt ganska osympatiskt.

Jag är som Mickan i Solsidan.

Fast ännu värre, för jag förvandlar dessutom hela spektaklet till en slags reflexiv diskussion i en akademiskt fåfäng förhoppning att det liksom skulle legitimera det hela.

Och sen problematiserar jag det.

  1. Vilket lyxproblem du har! :D
    Nu känner ju inte jag dig men jag har svårt att se likheter mellan dig och Solsidan-Mickan i det jag läst härinne. Men jag förstår hur du menar. Att inreda trendigt, personligt och tidlöst är inte det lättaste.
    Själv har jag aldrig kunnat köpa det jag velat ha i nyskick mer än min nuvarande soffa och bokhyllorna. Allt annat är arvegods eller seconddhandfynd som jag målat om och piffat till. Fördelen med det är att man inte ledsnar lika fort som jag antagligen hade gjort om jag sett likadana möbler hemma hos mina vänner. Dessutom behöver jag inte känna att de blir omoderna i takt med att vännerna byter ut sitt möblemang. Perfekt för mig som varit låginkomsttagare och ensamstående mamma i hela mitt vuxna liv. Men ibland önskar även jag mig något tiptop-modernt som jag sett i en flådig katalog. Man är ju inte mer än människa. :)

    • Åh, jag slåss mot min inre Mickan med näbbar och klor… ;) Grejen med de där tidningarna och katalogerna är ju att de bygger upp önskningar och drömmar och skapar bilden av en viss sorts liv som ryms i de där miljöerna. Att man i en sån där lägenhet nog skulle leva ett mycket friare och roligare och mer spännande liv. De är duktiga på att sälja in den illusionen och det är inte så konstigt om man dras till det, alldeles oavsett ekonomi. Älskar second hand för övrigt och försöker faktiskt hitta de där stolarna begagnade (och inser att jag kan lyfta fram det som en preferens just för att jag har möjlighet att välja…).

        Jag blev sjuk pga många års stress nu i somras och håller på att återhämta mig sakta, sakta. När man får en sådan smäll av livet så inser man att det inte spelar någon roll vilka sorts prylar man har i sitt hem. Lyckan finns inte där. Ju mer man pratar om sin egen sorg desto fler vågar öppna sig och tala om sina liv. Jag har i detta upptäckt hur mycket lycka jag själv lagt in i andras liv , alltså, att jag alltid trott att alla andra är så mycket gladare, nöjdare, rikare ja, you name it, än vad jag är. Särskilt de som har de där riktigt snygga hemmen med designerprylar och dyra soffor. Men i själva verket är det nog de som är de mest olyckliga. De köper in en annan sorts lycka som en fattiglapp som jag inte har råd att unna mig. Men deras liv blir inte lyckligare eller mer innehållsrikt för det.
        Men i vilket fall så tycker jag att ett personligt hem är det vackraste oavsett vilken typ av möbler man har. Ett hem ska spegla människorna som lever där, det ska inte se ut som en möbelkatalog.
        Hoppas du hittar stolarna du vill ha på seccond hand. Om man då mot förmodan skulle tröttna efter ett tag så känner det inte lika jobbigt att köpa nya ;)

  2. Hos oss tycker jag att det är lite intressant att frågeställningarna runt möblemanget är och förblir vad det var under den nu ganska avlägsna studietiden. För några år sen alltså “vad händer om någon kräks på den?”, “vad händer om någon kissar på den?” osv. Numera oftare ersatt med “vad händer om någon häller ett glas vin/saft/mjölk i den?”, “vad händer om någon hoppar i den/sitter på armstödet/ eller försöker använda den som stege?”. Min första spontana reflektion blev därför att jag tycker att de där stolarna ser lättorkade och fina ut men kanske lite vingliga när man sent en torsdagskväll vill nå godiset man gömt längst in på översta hyllan.

  3. Åh igenkänning på det här Ugglan! Jag har varit jätteintresserad av inredning tidigare. Men efter att jag genomgick en livskris för några år sedan så har jag tappat intresset. Det är lite sorgligt för det var ganska kul ändå, att sitta och fundera över färger och möbler och praktiska lösningar…

    Men i alla fall, så var det redan innan, förknippat med en viss skam. Jag gjorde ett arbete om Family Living när jag läste en kurs i intersektionalitet. Det var inte särskilt svårt att illustrera vithetsnormen (bokstavligen, på flera olika sätt) där. Men samtidigt köpte jag varje nummer och läste… skämskudde på det typ ;)

Skammen i att dras till det där ytliga… Det pågår ju också aktivt en slags omförhandling av hela konceptet – man pratar om design, deco, styling, form, och så vidare, och jag tänker att det är ett sätt att uppvärdera hela branschen, vilket också den där paradoxala antikonsumtionen som finns parallellt med köphysterin gör. Låter spännande med den där intersektionella analysen! Jag har mest funderat kring klass, kön och ålder där, men det finns ju definitivt fog för att ta in vithetsnormen i det också. Nu kommer jag ju att tänka vithet så snart jag öppnar någon av de där tidningarna…! ;)
