A ringde mig på jobbet i eftermiddag. Han ville kolla så att jag ‘var okej’ eftersom han upplevde att en person som kommenterade här var obehaglig och hotfull och han tänkte att det kanske skulle vara jobbigt för mig.

Men det var det ju inte.

Jag är i och för sig inte van vid att folk svär åt mig, säger att jag är dum i huvudet och anklagar mig för att ljuga eller för att ha psykiska problem som jag borde söka hjälp för. (Mina barn har som tur är länge kvar till tonåren, men tids nog lär jag väl få höra sådant där jag med.)

Visst är det skrämmande att få sådant kastat över sig, särskilt när man sett samma person uttrycka sig ännu grövre i andra sammanhang. Man kan ju faktiskt aldrig veta vad en person är kapabel till, och senast jag hörde folk prata med andra på det där sättet var på högstadiet där det mobbades ganska friskt.

Däremot jobbar jag inom ett område där kritisk diskussion och debatt är en kärnverksamhet. Det gör att jag är van vid oenighet ner på detaljnivå (säger ingen emot så är det något skumt). Idag vid kaffemaskinen frågade en kollega vad jag tyckte om konferensen som jag var på för några veckor sedan. Fick du några bra kommentarer? undrade han. Tja, svarade jag, några kommentarer och frågor, men inget jag inte hört förut och inget särskilt kritiskt. Så det var ju lite synd.

Det är när vi diskuterar med andra som vi får pröva våra ståndpunkter och våra argument. Och jag har diskuterat interaktion, intersubjektivitet, kognition, kunskap och makt i tillräckligt många sammanhang för att veta att det jag säger stöds av omfattande forskning. Med det i ryggen så blir det möjligt att – när obehaget lagt sig – ta ett steg tillbaka och observera.

Det är ett privilegium att ha den bakgrund som gör ett sådant förhållningssätt möjligt.

Jag förväntar mig så klart inte att folk i allmänhet ska diskutera som man gör inom akademin, även om det vi pratar om råkar höra till etnometodologisk, samtalsanalytisk och diskurspsykologisk teoribildning. Det är faktiskt rätt häftigt att ens kunna prata om sådana saker utanför seminarierummen! Jag skulle gärna göra det mera.

Men jag tycker heller inte att det är värt att lägga min tid på att förklara och diskutera saker, när det inte bemöts med någorlunda underbyggda sakargument, utan snarare med (van)tolkningar av mina känslor och tankar, uppblandat med personangrepp.

Så det tänker jag inte göra.

För övrigt är mitt vänstra långfinger fortfarande avdomnat.

Det är lite jobbigt att skriva nyanserat när kroppen är så explicit.

  1. Jag försöker ibland tänka på det här klassiska det är inte för den helt omöjliga personen som diskussionen sker (den personen går liksom inte att nå) utan för de andra som lyssnar/läser. Som i det här fallet för oss som läser blir det uppenbart att du försöker argumentera mot någon som inte är mottaglig, men att det ändå går att försöka vara saklig. Bra kämpat där Ugglan!

    Sen finns det ju en anledning att den här signaturen är blockad från flera bloggar /tex bloggkommentatorerna. Hen har gått över gränsen på ett sätt som inte är friskt. Jag kan tycka att det då är en poäng att blocka för att skydda både den personen, andra läsare och sig själv.

  2. Det finns en anledning att jag oftast håller mig undan från kommentarsfält rent generellt… Helt sjukt att en del inte kan föra ett normalt samtal utan att börja med personangrepp. Om du inte tar åt dig så är det ju bra, jag skulle inte ens orka försöka tror jag…

    • Jag tycker mig se en tendens att diskussioner flyttar in på Facebook istället, säkert delvis på grund av det du säger. Svårare att gömma sig bakom diverse alias där… (Sen skrivs det en massa skit där också så klart, men då kan man åtminstone inte komma dragandes med argumentet att ens internet-alias på något sätt skulle vara någon annan än en själv.)
