Ikväll har jag varit på bokklubb. Jag ska skriva om boken senare (när jag läst ut den, ehm…), men först två noteringar om kulturen här som jag inte riktigt kan vänja mig vid.

1. Vi pratade om fundraisers som de andra gjort med deras barns förskolor. En av skolorna hade haft auktion och samlat ihop en dryg miljon kronor den kvällen. Vissa familjer hade donerat 160 000 kronor bara sådär (till instrument eller vad det nu var), och andra hade betalat 50 000 för barnens ‘konstverk’ som de gjort. Och nog för att jag älskar Fabians små pyssel som han kommer hem med. Vi sätter stolt upp dem på väggen och så vidare, men inte vet jag om jag skulle vilja betala pengar för dem? Och då kostar ändå förskolan upp till hundra tusen per år, så det är liksom inte så att det är gratis till att börja med. Alltså, jag fattar att systemet är annorlunda och detta är inte på något sätt familjer som har dåligt med pengar eller så, men ändå. Ändå. Jag får lite svårt att andas.

2. De andra försäkrade sig om att jag inte skulle gå hem. Och det skulle jag ju inte för jag tog bilen (eftersom jag är lite rädd för spökena som bor i skogen som jag annars hade behövt passera) men liksom – jag bor fem minuters promenad från där vi var. Och jag hade druckit lite vin. Inte så att jag var över gränsen förstås, men i Sverige hade jag nog fått lämna bilen. Så i min värld skulle kommentaren snarast ha varit ‘du ska väl inte köra?’ och inte ‘du ska väl inte gå?’.

  1. Ja, det här med kulturskillnader är intressant. Här försvinner lönen i skatt så det är inte många som skulle kunna skänka bort 160 000 kr till skolan även om det skulle behövas…men å andra sidan så får vi ju tillbaka en hel del för skattepengarna, sjukvård, skola, vägar etc… men tyvärr är systemet inte vad det borde, skola o sjukvård lider stora brister osv…. men jag skulle inte vilja byta mot det system som råder där du bor.
    Men det måste vara fantastiskt spännande att få en inblick i en annan värld på det sätt som du har. Intressant att läsa om, så passa på att skriva om fler skillnader nu innan du flyttar hem igen :)

    Att kunna plocka citroner direkt från träden som jag läste i ett annat inlägg låter däremot som något man gärna skulle vilja byta med, för det låter ju helt underbart. Citroner som är så fina o nyttiga.
