En Stor Man, en sådan som i vanliga fall talade om Viktiga Saker som politik, beslöt sig en dag för att säga sin mening till Kvinnorna som han observerat under en längre tid.

Kära kvinnor, ni har missförstått alltihop. Ni har tänkt och tänkt men inte tänkt ända fram, kan man säga. Men misströsta inte. Jag ska hjälpa er, för jag är en Schysst Kille. Men om man anger ett absolut mått – en kilometer till exempel – så kan till och med småflickorna förstå att riktigt så långa ben inte är normalt. Det är viktigt med tydlighet i sådana här sammanhang.

Ni ska behaga män, det kan vi väl alla vara överens om. Men ni gör ju inte det när ni blir så där smala! Ni gör fel!

Män gillar smala midjor med breda höfter. Alltså, det är inte bara jag. Mina kompisar tycker också så. (För vi pratar ju så klart om hur ni ser ut och hur vi vill att ni ska se ut, bara så ni förstår det.) Vad män tycker är sexigt är till och med så viktigt att veta att det har gjorts forskning på det. Forskning. Vad sa ni nu då? Lite mer trovärdighet än era glossiga bilder, va?

Försök se ut så istället, så blir ni vi kanske lite nöjdare. Om du är för tjock – banta. Om du är för smal – ät mer. Om du har en kroppstyp som inte inkluderar kombinationen smal midja och breda höfter – synd för dig. Vi tänder inte på dig.

  1. När jag läser artiklar som Karlssons blir jag så trött att jag bokstavligen känner all kraft rinna ur mina centimeterkorta ben. Och detta är förmodligen en snäll kille med de bästa intentioner som säkert uttryckt de här tankarna förut inför vänner och bekanta och då fått så många applåder att han ansåg att hans insikter förtjänade att spridas till hela Sveriges befolkning.     Jag reagerar också på den här meningen: “I bland skryter något företag eller magasin med att de minsann lyfter fram “mulliga modeller” (Som inte är mulliga, utan bara helt vanliga tjejer) …” Jag är också en “helt vanlig tjej” trots ordentlig övervikt. Faktiskt.

    • Ja, konstruktionen av ‘vanliga tjejer’ (han skrev åtminstone inte ‘normala tjejer’…) är helt klart också något att uppmärksamma! ‘Helt vanlig’ – vad är det, liksom? Något som jag skulle vara intresserad av att veta är hur han själv tänker kring den massiva kritik han har fått sedan krönikan. Har han tagit del av kritiken? Håller han med? Ser han det problematiska i sin egen text? För jag tror precis som du att han ser sig som välmenande (särskilt som han ju skriver om ett viktigt samhällsproblem – det blir ju bara fel i hur han gör det).

    • Ja, varför göra en så stor grej av att han är man? Det är väl precis det min text ifrågasätter skulle jag säga. Det är nämligen inte jag som gör det, utan det görs i texten som jag utgår ifrån. Det är Karlsson som påpekar att det är just som heterosexuell man vi ska läsa honom, det är han som dikotomiserar och ställer upp ett ‘vi’ och ett ‘dem’ – och det är en stor del av problemet med hans text.

        • Tja, det får du väl tro vad du vill om. Det där med att använda kön som bakomliggande variabel för att förstå diskursiva uttryck är inget jag gillar särskilt mycket, faktiskt. Utifrån ett maktperspektiv kan det förstås vara intressant, men analytiskt rör jag mig hellre på den diskursiva nivån och nöjer mig med det. Så nej, jag bryr mig inte ett skvatt om huruvida Karlsson är man eller kvinna, jag bryr mig om vad han säger – och han gör väldigt tydligt i sin text att han gör anspråk på positionen man, och att det är i relation till denna position som hans text ska läsas. Därmed konstruerar han både problemet och dess lösning som att kvinnor är beroende av mäns gillande, och på detta sätt så rör han sig i en slags cirkel där han i slutet hamnar på samma ställe som han började, och så kvarstår problemet.

    Du har fattat det fina i att fokusera på det diskursiva utan att försöka ‘förklara’ det med psykologi eller kategori som kön hos den som står för uttrycken – för nej, du kan inte veta hur jag tänker ‘egentligen’. På samma sätt som jag inte kan säga hur Karlsson ‘egentligen menar’. Jag kan bara se vad som står och vilka förutsättningar som slås fast i det som han skriver. Precis som alla andra. Och med tanke på reaktionerna runtom på nätet så är det många som gjort ungefär samma läsning som jag, vilket om något talar om för oss att det finns något problematiskt i texten och att det finns anledning att diskutera det. Återigen – min text är en slags spegling av hans. Jag säger inget som han inte säger själv, jag bara skruvar till det lite. Huruvida han själv tycker att han menar det som står där på det sätt som jag läser det, det är en annan sak och det är inte så himla intressant eftersom meningen som skapas när läsare möter texten inte beror på detta.

    Slutligen får du, som tidigare påpekats, tro vad du vill om mig och vad jag ‘egentligen säger’ i min text. Du läser den uppenbarligen inte som jag själv läser den, men jag skulle inte hävda att min avsikt när jag skrev den ska utgöra något slags facit för din läsning. Så du fokuserar på texten säger du och bortser helt från KJK:s inledning där han förklarar vad han anser vara ett problem, unga tjejers utseendeideal, orsaken bakom problemet, kommersiella drivkrafter inom modeindustrin, samt varför han väljer att angripa problematiken i egenskap av heterosexuell man, den totala frånvaron av män i debatten.

    Anledningen till att han skriver som han gör, utifrån ett manligt perspektiv på problematiken kring unga tjejers utseendefixering, är alltså att han tycker för få män hörs i debatten samt att det skulle vara önskvärt med fler män som engagera sig. Om artikeln överhuvudtaget ska angripas från feministhåll så är det väl förfan det här sistnämnda som ska avhandlas isf och inte nåt jävla raljerande trams som du och Charlotte håller på med. Är det önskvärt med män som uttalar sig i frågan, i egenskap att vara just heterosexuella män, överhuvudtaget? Och om nej, isf varför?

    • Nej, det är verkligen inte önskvärt om det enda de har att komma med är floskler där de gör sig till talespersoner för alla andra heteromän och
      ska berätta för de “oupplysta massorna” om vad ALLA män EGENTLIGEN tänder på .
      Det är ännu mindre önskvärt om de vet så lite om anorexia som den här snibben uppenbarligen gör. Det är en allvarlig mångfacetterad sjukdom som ofta har en kombination av bakomliggande orsaker som knappast går att analysera så grunt som “tjejer vill bli smala för att killar ska tycka de är tillräckligt attraktiva att knulla med”.

    • Hur menar du att jag fokuserar mer på hans kön än på det han skriver? I mina ögon är det ganska tydligt att det jag tar fasta på snarare är hur han själv i sin text konstruerar sin (manliga, heterosexuella, etc.) identitet i relation till budskapet som han för fram – dvs. hur själva positioneringen görs till en förutsättning för det som han säger om ideal etc. Det finns ingen essentialism i den sortens problematisering, tvärtom.
