Igår skrev jag om hur vetenskapliga referenser tycks användas och efterfrågas allt mer på bloggar och forum.

Själv använder jag sällan eller aldrig referenser till vetenskapliga studier när jag skriver här.

Huvudanledningen är ganska enkel – jag vill att bloggandet ska få vara en annan sorts skrivande, ett lite friare skrivande. Mina texter här är inte vetenskapliga texter. Ville jag att de skulle vara det så skulle jag nog inte heller publicera dem här, utan i vetenskapliga tidskrifter. Då skulle de också se ganska annorlunda ut.

Men den här bloggen, liksom de allra flesta bloggar jag läser, är en personlig blogg. Jag skriver om sådant jag är intresserad av, sådant jag tänker på, sådant jag tycker är viktigt. Utgångspunkten är alltid mitt eget perspektiv. Så tror jag att det är för de flesta som bloggar.

Ofta finns det inslag av analys i det jag skriver. Och visst bygger det i någon mening på vissa teoretiska utgångspunkter. I inlägget om referenser som jag skrev igår utgick jag exempelvis från diskursiv psykologi. Men – man måste inte ha läst diskursiv psykologi för att hänga med på vad jag säger. (Hoppas jag.) Antingen tycker man att analysen är intressant och rimlig eller också gör man inte det. Lyckas jag inte övertyga så torde min poäng inte vara tillräckligt tydligt framförd, eller så har jag missat något. Det är inte hela världen.

Sedan finns det förstås tillfällen där jag sätter ner foten kring hur jag uppfattar att något ’är’. Typ att kön som kategori är viktig för att förstå till exempel ’näthatet’. Det är förstås också en slags analys, som grundar sig på vad jag ser runt omkring mig. Det är en beskrivning av hur jag uppfattar att något hänger ihop, och det ska läsas precis så. Det ska inte läsas som att jag anser det bevisat att det är det enda relevanta sambandet, eller ens att jag nödvändigtvis tagit del av studier som visar på att sambandet finns.

Det är förstås inte fel att referera till studier om man vill och kan det. Det kan till exempel hjälpa andra att hitta till aktuell och bra forskning. Men det finns också problem med ett växande uttalat eller outtalat krav på vetenskapliga ’belägg’ för observationer och ställningstaganden som görs av privatpersoner i sociala medier. De problemen gör att jag faktiskt ibland undviker att komma med källhänvisningar även när jag har dem tillgängliga, eftersom jag inte vill bidra till att förstärka de tendenser som jag ser.

Det handlar om att ’krav’ på referenser gör steget att börja skriva så väldigt stort. Det verkar exkluderande, och riskerar att i onödan stänga ute människor från det offentliga samtalet.

Dels tar det en väldig tid att läsa studier och länka. Den tiden lägger åtminstone jag hellre på annat. Skulle jag känna mig tvingad att länka till studier i varje inlägg så skulle jag nog välja att inte blogga. Jag misstänker att det gäller för fler än mig.

Men man måste också ha tillgång till vetenskapliga tidskrifter. Det är det i princip bara studenter och anställda vid universitet som har. Man måste även kunna förstå och bedöma vetenskapliga studier inom ämnet, vilket torde innebära högskoleutbildning och ofta också en forskarutbildning i bagaget.

Det blir nog inte så många diskuterande samhällsbloggar kvar då, misstänker jag.

Det fina med bloggvärlden är ju annars att den låter alla säga sitt. Gillar man inte vad som skrivs kan man starta sin egen blogg, ge sina egna perspektiv.

Ärligt talat: vill jag läsa forskning så gör jag en litteratursökning. Diskuterande texter på bloggar läser jag för att det är intressant att ta del av andras tankar kring olika samhällsfenomen. Det ger mig väldigt mycket på ett personligt plan. Ibland är det givande när någon länkar till olika studier – visst – men när det börjar ställas krav på att man ska göra det för att ‘tas på allvar’ i det man säger, då tycker jag att det gått för långt.

Om man ser forskare som målgrupp så torde den egna analysen vara mycket intressantare för de flesta. Legitimitet för vad man säger kan till viss del byggas genom referenser (och görs så i vetenskapliga tidsskrifter), men till största del genom hur man faktiskt pratar om saker och vad man säger.
